Morningstar MC8 PRO and LoopPad

New Looperlative user here! Any advice for getting the LoopPad to work with a Morningstar MC8 Pro? Tried getting this combo to work for a few hours to no avail.

MC8 Pro is running on 12V. I have the LoopPad plugged into the Host USB port on the MC8 Pro. The MC8 Pro is configured to send MIDI data through that USB host port. I have tried changing the LoopPad MIDI channel, sending CCs, PC, and note messages - nothing registers.

Been daydreaming about this setup for a long time, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did some more testing this morning.

I tried connecting my Korg Nanokontrol and a Faderbank to the LoopPad and still nothing registers. This seems odd to me because I’ve successfully used these with many Pi-based projects before.

EDIT: Got the Nanokontrol working, user error (forgot to set the midi channel back to one) unfortunately the MC8 is still not working.

Realizing now that I was trying to plug two USB host ports into each other.

The MC8 Pro has both USB Host and Device ports. Using the device port still yields no results.

Is the only option to use a USB-5 pin cable?

EDIT: GOT IT WORKING! Previously had set the MC8 to only output to the USB host port.

Excellent. Glad you got that solved. I’m using an MC6 right now myself.
